On November 23, 1963, BBC One decided to air a program for children called "Doctor Who". The first episode was titled "An Unearthly Child."
It became a cultural phenomenon, even Queen Elizabeth II was a fan (now called Whovians). The show lasted for 26 seasons on BBC One with six other actors "regenerating" into the role of The Doctor, after William Hartnell's retirement.
In 1996 a movie with Paul McGann as The Doctor, Daphne Ashbrook as his Companion Grace, and Eric Roberts
as his foremost enemy The Master, premiered but it wasn't too successful to relaunch the series.
In 2005, after a sixteen year absence Doctor Who came back.
Christopher Eccleston was The Doctor and Billie Pipper as his Companion Rose Tyler.
Five men and one woman have succeeded Eccleston as The Doctor with Ncuti Gatwa as the current (Fifteenth) Doctor.
💕 HAPPY DOCTOR WHO DAY TO ALL MY FELLOW WHOVIANS!💕
