Because Brendan is a previous regeneration cycle of the doctor

The Brendan flashbacks are a warped memory

Basically, Brendan was the doctor in a previous set of regenerations and at the end of the Brendan flashbacks getting strapped in to that machine was his memory being wiped for a new set of three generations but the memories were warped because they were made out to be in Ireland actually it was gallifrey

@GalaxyGirl20671 I know what you mean and I do think that those two will end up together in the end. I quote enjoyed the episode though the 1) Cybermen on the carrier and 2) the fact that Gallifrey and the Master would come through the boundary were very predictable

And if there were doctors before Hartnell, why is the amount of regenerations he's had said and it only goes back to Hartnell

I thought it was the best episode of this season so far. When I heard Jack's voice I knew that I would be in for a ride and then when Ruth turned out to be the doctor (somehow) and I realized that all the timeline errors on Gallifrey and with the master and Ruth, it might not be as bad of a season as I thought it might

Personally I thought it was ok but a bit preachy for my liking. I preferred the last 2 episodes but I liked the design of the dregs

@Icecreamdif I completely agree. The 12th doctor did so much and Gallifrey was back and the master was redeemed but now that is all gone

@GalaxyGirl20671 I think that there will be more clues about the timeless child and the gallifreyan stuff later in the series.

I thought it was a great second episode and so far, this series is a lot better looking than last, I was not the biggest fan of last series.

"Luckily there is an app for that" 🤣😂 one of the best lines in the episode.
