I mean, there's a reason Donna came back for a season as a permanent companion. Even in this one episode she is a brilliantly fleshed out character. Yes, she's loud and flawed, but there are also moments when the bravado fades and you can see the insecurities behind it all. Catherine Tate did an amazing job. It was expected that she could do the comedy, but she also shines in the serious moments. My heart breaks for her when Lance reveals his true colours.
I think that all of the times that the Doctor has been slapped might be considered physical assault (but that's just me thinking, so feel free to disagree if you think). And Rose called the Ninth Doctor "gay" when he was moaning about Jackie hitting him, which I believe also wouldn't fit today. But apart from those possible instances, has the Revived Series done anything else that wouldn't be received well today?
