Well they feel a bit USSR meets US military. Only the last one feels vaguely British. But I am not a military expert being a pacifist myself, so I may be wrong in my assumption, of course UNIT is not British either seeing as it works for the UN perhaps some more blue and white on the uniform.

@Anastasia Cousins and generally, the guy who originally posted this picture on DeviantArt may be Finnish by birth. This may have influenced him in his designs.

I was asking if anyone here could see these uniforms being used by UNIT (modified to UNIT specifications), rather than just looking like the police/Garda riot squad (armoured).

I mean, in the classic series, we often saw the Brigadier (and Captain Yates) in #2 Service Dress (khaki jacket, shirt, tie, slacks), and the Brigadier sometimes in #13 Temperate Barrack Dress (sweater, cap, slacks). In the Sontaran story 2008, we saw Colonel Mace and Captain Price in #2 dress. The Stolen Earth saw Lt. Gen. Sanchez in what looked like US Army Blue Service Uniform. Since the reforming of UNIT in the last few years (emphasis on last few), all we've seen are riot squad-like stuff, no specialist distinctions or rank insignia.

Specialist colours...in the British Army, what colour beret you wear shows your regiment (tan: SAS (special forces), emerald grey: Special Recon Regiment (special forces), Cypress green: Intelligence Corps (does what it says), red: Royal Military Police (internal investigations), light blue: Army Air Corps (flight), maroon: Parachute Regiment (air infantry), black: Royal Tank Regiment (armoured cavalry), dark blue: most units). Some units also have other adornments in the form of a coloured backing behind the beret badge. Something like that, to show specialisation, would be nice. Although...given the black berets in recent years for generics, maybe they'll use the same colours as Venezuela.

Rank insignia...when we've seen the aforementioned UNIT folks in their country's uniforms, they have the appropriate rank insignia for their rank in their country in place. I'm starting to wonder if there'll be a new one-size-fits-all approach to ranks, given the reshuffle.

@Anastasia Cousins, you reckon you could see any of these uniforms being used, in blue and white? OK. Which uniforms specifically?

Personally I think unit should go a tad more covert with the uniforms namely only dress uniforms for special occasions but otherwise most of the time no uniform. But failing that a bit more space age, a bit more Sylvia Anderson style uniforms (such as Captain Scarlet) but without the colour coding. I just really like 60’s space age. And I think it would neatly bridge the gap between classic who space alien fighters from the 21st century with modern day space alien fights from the 21st century. Of course we don’t really need to bridge the gap but I really love 60’s space age fashion. And the Captain Scarlet Uniforms are brilliant, (they would need changes of course to for a human not a puppet. I am think a Blue Beret (like the ones in battle Feild) with the Unit Logo in the Center. A black undershirt with a sleeveless Jacket with a white main body and a blue panel across the upper chest. Double breasted with rank insignia on the shoulders. With a combat variant with a White Armoured Kevlar Jacket (with blue upper chest section) and Blue Helmet. And a more stealthy combat uniform in all black with standard insignia for the nation they are operating in with out UNIT badges anywhere on it. The Black and the non combat uniform would be the most common of course as the standard combat uniform would probably be only seen only on base security personnel and in the Feild only for being world any threats that are very obvious. Of course I don’t really care much about the military side of UNIT a compared to the scientific side,

@Anastasia Cousins, I know of your affinity for 1960s space era looks. But...hmm, I doubt the style would work in today times.

UN blue beret with UNIT logo as cap badge, black tunic, white vest over it with blue trim, rank on epaulettes (sounds like just for officers), black pants and boots (?) for non-combat ops...white kevlar with blue chest, UN blue helmet for combat...solid black for spec ops...could work. I take it that all blue parts are UN blue, right?

Would officer uniforms have distinctions (silver cockade around beret badge, striping on gorget patches (silver for NCOs, gold for officers), silver braid on borders of pant seam stripes)? Rank would be...one size fits all, or what? Would there be distinctions for specialist groups (like for epaulettes and pant seam stripes (black for regular units, red for Guards, gold for Elite Guards or something)? Or white for infantry, yellow for artillery, blue for cavalry?) Would there be distinctions between uniforms for officers and enlisted?

I like your ideas, @Anastasia Cousins. Genuinely, they're great. It's just...I sometimes wonder if UNIT, in some respects, ought to be based off real-world militaries that do or have recruited foreigners from diverse countries (like the International Brigades of the Second Spanish Republic/their Air Force, the French Foreign Legion/wider French Army, and to a lesser extent, the Germans in the past), coupled with those real-world militaries with a distinct rank/non head-of-state position of commander-in-chief (like the Continental Army, the Tatmadaw, and the Venezuelan Armed Forces). And sometimes I wonder if the non-combatants, like the science division, ought to have their own sort of rank structure.

@Kevin 'Chalky' Kaiba yes the blues is UN Blue. But I think that modern UNIT should possibly be mostly officers or Warrant Officers as it is supposed to be a mostly secret organisation. Whether or not that would work I don’t know. I don’t know much about soldiers after the wars and what I do know is on a more personal level, so to the rest of your questions I must shrug.

@Anastasia Cousins, sorry. It's just another (fiction) inspiration for a potential UNIT design is the Emperor's Sardaukar from the Dune saga (uniforms, medals, badges etc.), and...yeah, I mentioned the distinctions that appear in the Dune Encyclopedia.

Hmm...what do you think of...another addition, a stable belt, the same design as those used by Danish soldiers seconded to the UN (UN blue, with red top and bottom, and a thin white stripe in the centre)?

My saying of ranks for the science cadre...is basing off the General Administration Department in Myanmar, which is civilian, part of the Ministry of Home Affairs, but answers to the Tatmadaw C-in-C. The Department uses pin badges with the Department name, and a rank symbol of a series of stripes for enlisted, and a series of stars for officers.

I'm no expert in military matters, mind.
