I will need to think on my issues with it but I know what London Transports issue was with it. The Tube sets where so accurate they accused the BBC of illegally filming in the real Tube.
@Anastasia Cousins That's one of my favourite facts. Hilarious.
For me, the big miss is the redesign of the Yeti. In some ways I prefer it, but in others I can only see the Honey Monster. Essentially they're not as hulking, and I think they look very silly waddling around pointing their guns at things. The re-design goes audaciously unexplained (I like that), but if the Intelligence can change their appearance, why not change it to something bigger and scarier, or at least more appropriate for the location? Surely the Yeti form was chosen to blend in back in Tibet?
I can't think of any other issues off the top of my head. The characters are incredibly vivid, the scripts are superb, the sets and direction are phenomenally atmospheric. This is a triumph. Perhaps the only other things I can think of are a) Victoria being such a whinger; and b) the slightly unconvincing representation of the danger of being above ground. The Yeti are strong, sure, but they're not very fast and I don't quite believe that the entire city would be deserted as a result of their presence.
I never understood why they kept describing the web as a fungus.
This story is pretty decent for what it's worth (though even by this point in the season, the base under siege formula is beginning to wear a bit thin), but it's definitely an episode or two too long, and the Yeti themselves are pretty damn unthreatening (especially when filmed above ground). Plus, there's the absolutely atrocious animation for episode three on the DVD.
Oh god yeah the animation. All the floaty limbs where the animators didn't lock down the autotweens. So unprofessional.
Its probably the worst animation of any of the missing episodes. First they made us wait years before they released an animation, and then its like they didn’t even try.
What do you think?
