Sort of collapses under its own weight for me, this one. It tries to do loads of different things and none of them are my cup of tea. Add in the melodramatic title and the thoroughly uninspiring sets/warehouse and you've got virtually everything about this era that I dislike distilled into a single 45 minutes. Obsessed with its own continuity and throws away every good idea it has in what basically amounts to a series of cameos. It's not awful, in fact it's probably brilliant. But I don't like it much. Watching it in isolation brings no joy or understanding.

Avery and his son from Curse of the Black Spot showing up for one scene for absolutely no reason and (as far as I can remember) without explanation.

I know there's a lot (A LOT) of problems with this ep but if I had to choose one I would have to go with the debut of one of my worst characters that being Jenny

Also River is really giving me:

"She's here she's there she's everywhere, who you gonna call? The child of the TARDIS!"

This felt like a poor imitation of three years previously, where we had a version of "Forever Red". This was so many one-offs, who disappear immediately before the main threat rears its head. Pun not intended.

Then there's the new character introductions, and the fact that Jack and Odd Sigma didn't appear.
