@FH2104, I sort of know what you mean. Also...an issue I have is how they're nothing like their classic predecessors.
@Kevin 'Chalky' Kaiba That doesn't bother me so much. I don't think the original design was amazing either. And it became clear with Warriors of the Deep that no one knew exactly what to do with the third eye so I don't blame them for losing that, although I think it could have been a part of the mask.
Personal bias I can not criticise this episode as it was the episode of Doctor who which got me into watching it weakly (prior to this I had watched, the Christmas invasion, Voyage of the Damned, the next Doctor and the End of Time Part two)
The human faces on the Silurians.
The masks they wear should have been their actual faces.
My main issue is with the next episode, but this one… the future Amy and Rory waving from the distance was really pointless and makes little sense with what would be established later on.
@FH2104 @Kevin 'Chalky' Kaiba @CaptainKaibyo I forgot to post my comment but my criticism is that exact same. Do the old Silurians look amazing? No. But when we have creatures like the Ood that look nowhere near human but have a good range of expression, I feel like there was more they could done with effects. Honestly if the masks they were had been there actual faces with some tweaking it would have been really cool to me.
@Dreamleak I really like the scaly faces, I think they are absolutely brilliant. I think they're better than the original designs. My issue is more—yes, I think slit pupils and yellow eyes would be an improvement, as well as sharper teeth—that there's no sense that the reptilian features continue below the neckline. The faces are gorgeous, but beyond that they look too much like costumes.
I think the design was a bit too different than the original. I'm fine with it not being exactly the same, but there should at least be some similarities. I agree that the masks would have better as heir actual faces.
Gonna be honest, I don’t remember a dang thing from this story besides Rory dying in the next part😂
I didn't like how it ended up being a us or them situation towards the end and into the next episode. I recently watched The Silurians from the 3rd Doctor era and it was eeringly similar to the plot of these two episodes. Both feature a militant group of silurians trying to eradicate humanity, both has the Doctor try to negotiate a peace, both involve the us or them situation, both have the silurians put back into hibernation, both involve the miltiary undergoing coups of varying success, both involve abductions.
What do you think?
