I would love to see a Cyberman spin-off
No I haven't.
What I'm wondering is why Doctor Who is going to be put on Disney+, when the BBC doesn't have any connection to Disney like Fox does nowadays. I just don't understand what reason there could be for a BBC series from the UK to have more founding from an American company...
I will say, a friend has been trying to plug his idea of an SJA continuation series, where they (her two children and their three best friends), they've all been through rough patches in their lives since her passing (civil partnership annulment, laid off from a secretive and uncaring employer, film projects collapsing, etc.), they all reunite, form a relationship, and resolve to go back, pick up where their mother/mentor left off, continuing what she did, with the house and everything else put back how it was, stopping threats from enemies old and new.
And they also meet up with fellow children/grandchildren of past companions (like Santiago Jones, Harry Sullivan III, and a few original creations), who they befriend.
It would mean a lot for him to get this series out there; some auld friends returning to TV, where they belong. And something that could reconcile some fans who've become disillusioned with the franchise.
If anyone's interested, swing by and I'll say more.
Seriously, something like what I've said would be nice, if it was done the right way.
@TheCritic&RobloxMaster21 The Beeb don't have a lot of money, being as they are a completely non for profit public service, and therefore teaming up with big corporations with lots of money means that they can make better quality programming.
@Aquanafrahudy I guess that makes sense...
I'm a huge fan of sci-fi procedurals so a UNIT spin-off sounds AMAZING. It sounds like it could be everything Torchwood tried to be in s1 and s2. Really excited!
@Aquanafrahudy, though some reckon that this could happen: Guy Hilariously Predicts Disney’s Future By Writing A Timeline From 1995 To 2100 | Bored Panda (look at 2062).
I heard a horrifying rumour about spin-off series based on "what the Doctor's enemies get up to when the Doctor isn't around." I cannot think of anything worse.
I'm not a great spin-off fan. They can be good in their own right, but shared universes are rarely as much fun as they sound.
@FH2104, sometimes they can be OK. Normally they do their own thing, then they crossover. Like Who and its spinoffs did back in the 2000s, or when various Sentai/PR teams join forces, is that what you mean?
I’ve brought up the Idea of a UNIT spin off in the past before, it seems like it would work!
What do you think?
