You there, boy. What day is this?
Christmas Eve, sir.
What year?
You thick or something?
The joke is great, but I do also love the rest of the opening scene, with the beautiful snowy Victorian marketplace. It's a very picturesque setting.

@FH2104 I love his name for his TARDIS!
@LauraBatham It's a very Russell joke and I love it
Quite a fun episode, decent premise, good reveal at the end.
It's my favorite DW Christmas special. It's a fun episode with lot's of great moments. I loved the stetting and I especially liked Jackson Lake's "sonic" screwdriver!
@Fly'n casual I'd forgotten about the screwdriver lol. Another fun little gag.
The moment where Jackson Lake remembers what happened to his family - really well done and very emotional.
@FH2104, what is *this*? You've lost me, sorry.
I think it gave a good idea, how the Cybermen survived. And also the Dragonzord-like CyberKing rising out of the river.
It's a pity we didn't see the Shades much after this episode.
But then the issue of how this, along with nearly all the rest of 10's eps (and possibly all others) got undone afterwards...I know that's something for another page, but it was just so stupid.
@Kevin 'Chalky' Kaiba In the interest of staying on topic I will reiterate that there are parts of this I think are quite fun, but by "*this*" I meant that to me this episode is of a vastly inferior quality to almost anything from the previous series. I'm interested that you would have liked to see more of the Cybershades though: I've always found them to be one of the most fundamentally idiotic monsters in the entire series. Although (and here's another positive) I suspect they're visually based on No Face from Spirited Away, which is a comparison that flatters DW hugely.
Jackson Lake.
The music.
Basically everything again.
@FH2104, I don't know. They looked and acted cool. Say another benevolent time traveller adopted one as a pet. I don't know much anime (emphasis on much).
I stand by my saying how everything got undone later on just seemed so stupid.
What do you think?
