It's interesting in theory but they forgot to, you know, make it actually good.
Really? i really liked it, the only downside being the undoing of Clara’s death which was a direct consequence of her recklessness, but even that isn’t too bad. Clara and 12’s relationship was rlly nice to watch in that episode as well
It's far too ambitious I think. Like it's got good concepts but the pacing is horrible and that Clara ending is yikes.
I've come to despise the episode with a passion, to the point where it's been erased from my personal head-canon. The episode that proceeds it (Heaven Sent) teases so much for the series and defines the Twelfth Doctor in his most vulnerable. I've also interpreted this episode has him getting over his grief to face up to new challenges, which is why it's one of my favourite stories.
HB completely wastes the return of Gallifrey and the Time Lords for the whole "Hybrid" plotline, spends most of its time faffing about in either dark hallways, a recreation of Hartnell's TARDIS or that café from Series 6, and undermines a lot of development in the two preceding episodes. Also, you could have written Clara into this story via other ways, like guilt hallucinations or the mind-palace seen in HS. There was no need to save/resurrect her, and it very much undermines her death in Face the Raven.
I like "Hell Bent" but "Heaven Sent" is so much better. It showcases Capaldi's acting.
What do you think?
