Doctor Who Novels

Hello fellow Whovians, I’m trying to get into the Doctor Who novels and I’m not sure where to start. So far, some novels that sound interesting are The Day of the Doctor Target Novelization, Scratchman by Tom Baker, and a Barnes and Noble exclusive of The Silent Stars Go By and Touched by an Angel. What are your opinions on these choices and do you have any other suggestions on what to get?

Millennium Who Collection Complete (For Now), Fellow Whovians!

My BRILLIANT husband picked me up from work today and said, "Meet me in the Entertainment section (I work at a Target). I have something that I want to show you."

He showed me something BRILLIANT! There in his hand was Series Eleven on Blu-ray!

So now I have EVERY episode of the rebooted Doctor Who!

Now I can finally get in on the conversations about Graham, Ryan, Yaz and The Thirteenth Doctor!

Tips for sourcing clothes for an Empty Child cosplay?

I'm not sure what category to put this in, so I'll just put it here.

As I'm sure some of you are aware, World Book Day is coming up, and my school has an annual dress-up day for it - I've decided to come in as the Empty Child.

I've managed to source a gas mask, but I'm having trouble finding a coat mainly. It's pretty easy to find the other stuff; you just get a shirt, a vest jumper, shorts, socks and boots, but I feel like the coat has got to be just right to really pull the outfit together. I've been considering just buying a WWII evacuee costume, but only as a last resort.

I'm not sure what to search to find a coat that looks right, but everything I've seen has been really expensive. The gas mask itself is 15 quid, so I reckon I'll only be able to spend 10~15 on the jacket (I'm hoping to source the rest from friends/family or things I already own). Does anyone know anywhere in the UK where I could find one, or any good alternatives that would look at least halfway authentic?

Thanks in advance!

It took me 7 months, but I’m finally caught up with NuWho! There wasn’t a single episode I didn’t like in some way or another, which is nice!

Lines you wish the Doctor would say/had said...

Do you ever have times when you're watching an episode or just a series of Doctor Who and wished the Doctor had said something - either as a reference/throwback to another episode, because you think it'd be funny/interesting, etc.

I'll start us off.

Episode: 'Arachnids in the UK'

13th Doctor: "I've been to a planet of giant spiders before - just be thankful these ones aren't telepathic!"

What about you guys?

I’m 20 minutes into The Doctor Falls

And Bill being so angry and upset about being a Cyberman... I’m actually crying. Presumably this is her exit as a companion, and if so, this is the saddest companion exit I’ve ever seen.

The doctor is a hypocrite

He says that if you time travel to stop a action you won't do it in the past and it won't happen but in Doty he saves gallifrey but his younger selves never know to save gallifrey so my question is is it still there and why

Is the TARDIS only able to refuel on a rift?

I know that there were other methods of refueling on Gallifrey, but on Earth does the TARDIS have to be on a rift to refuel? I am just trying to find out if it could refuel anywhere but being on a rift is just quicker, or if it would have to be physically on the rift.

Thanks in advance!

Which adventure

If the Whoniverse was real, and all of a sudden you found that you had the chance to go on your very own adventure with the Doctor and other companions at any point in the show, which adventure would you choose?

The Doctor is a Deity

This is just something I thought of a while ago. In my opinion he qualifies, at least to an extent, to be in that niche. I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

First off, she has amassed legions of worshipers through her companions, even people following in her footsteps like Torchwood and SJA.
Secondly, even though she can still die, her sole (so to speak) can be said to be immortal as long as she has regenerations left.
Thirdly, the Tardis technically makes her omnipresent as she can be anywhere in the universe at multiple times.
Also, she has the power to destroy a whole civilisation in a second, as that’s how he ended the Time War and saved the day in ‘Journeys End’.
Lastly, in ‘Evolution of the Daleks’ he created new life in the form of the Dalek-Human-Timelord hybrids.

What do y’all think of that?

Series Decline

Who else thinks that Dr. Who episodes have slowly gotten more dry since ~2015?

Favorite Decade of Doctor Who?

What’s your favorite decade of Doctor Who? Is it the 1960s (the black and white era), the 1970s (the Pertwee and Baker years), the 1980s (the John Nathan-Turner era), the 1990s (The Wilderness Years), the 2000s (the Russel T. Davies era), or the 2010s (the Steven Moffat / Chris Chibnall era)? Personally I’d have to go with the 60s. Every story has a wonderful sense of discovery and adventure that I really love and Hartnell and Troughton are both amazing Doctors. Which decade is your favorite?

The Doctor and?

I would love to see a story where the Doctor and companions arrive in a Star Trek story, eg Deep Space 9. Or the Doctor helps Spider Man, or Batman.
What sci fi would you like to see the Doctor join in?
